IGDA Austin Game Jam

IGDA-Austin will have its first of an intended annual game jam at The Esports Cave on Anderson Mill, starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 and ending noon Sunday, Sept. 17. Sign up on the itch.io event page and join the Discord for more details.

DETAILS:

• YOU CANNOT STAY THE NIGHT AT THE VENUE but you can come back the next day!
• Food will be provided on Saturday at the venue
• Schedule will be announced a few days before the event
• Theme will be announced the day of the event
• At The Esports Cave the following programs will be available to use: Unity, Unreal, and GameMaker Studio 2 (please let the board know if you need more programs by next week in ⁠ask-the-board so we can download them beforehand. If you don’t tell us, you will need to bring your own laptop)
• We ask, but are not requiring, per the CDC, that you wear a mask if you feel unwell on the day of the event. Masks will also be provided to anyone who needs one.

RULES:

• Must be signed up on itch.io to enter
• Must be a part of the IGDA Austin Discord
• Max team size: 5 people per team
• Must have someone new to game jams on your team in order for your team to be judged (this can be adjusted if there are too many teams)
• Age Restrictions: 15+ only
• This game jam follows IGDA Austin’s community guidelines/code of conduct and do NOT tolerate harassment of any kind. Breaking this rule will result in an immediate disqualification and removal from the community of the persons or team involved.
• All teams are expected to upload their game as a playable version before the cutoff time on Sunday at 12PM
• Stay hydrated, eat good food, move around, take rest breaks, and give yourself enough time to get plenty of sleep each night

EQUIPMENT:

• If you are attending in person then you may use one of the computers provided or bring your own equipment if needed (IGDA Austin and The Esports Cave is not liable if anything happens to equipment brought by jammers)
• The Esports Cave is allowing any sound designer jammers to use their professional audio equipment and recording room if needed
• If you need to bring your projects home with you, we recommend you bring your own external drive or USB to transfer your files in the easiest way possible

TEAM FORMATION:

• If you have a team already, great! Don’t have a team yet? We will have a channel on Discord called ⁠team-formation-requests for people who need a team/want to join one. We will not put you on a team, but we will help you if you ask!
