We had yet another fantastic event this year at SXSW 2023. This year we went in even bigger this time. Our TWO day event was a huge success filled with developers showing off their games and speakers helping to educate the future of the industry. We had over 2000 registrations for the Social lounge and needless to say it keep the space lively and full!
Our speakers were from all over the games and tech industry. We got the chance to learn from CEOs, project managers, engineers and recruiters. Attendees got to learn about different tactics on getting in the industry, making major career changes and understanding what CEOs are looking for!
On the other side of the venue we had an arcade, powered by Turn Me Up Games, it was decked out with some amazing games developed by our community. Our very own Tiffany Ondracek decorated it and really brought the arcade to life! Our developers got the chance to show off their games and get tons of feedback from players. At ATX Game Makers, we want to help get developers exposure to players in order to help them polish their games. Events like these are the key, thank you again to Turn Me Up Games for helping make this happen.
One of the things that we were so very proud to present at this years event was the ATX Game Makers Book of Talent! Our main goal is to help get people into the industry. This book was the culmination of many long long nights of work. Prior to the event we held resume and portfolio review sessions. During those sessions we had established industry vets help refine and edit the community members portfolios. We then asked community members to design a page to describe “Why do you like what you do?” and “Where can I find out more about you?” These pages were all compiled into the book.
